INTERIM REPAIRS TO THE FDR RAMPS OF THE ROBERT F. KENNEDY BRIDGE

Project Highlights

Restani Construction Corp. and M.G. McLaren Engineering Group have a history of partnering on bridge repair and maintenance projects, using the Design-Build model. The successful completion of the RFK Bridge interim repairs is another testament to our successful collaboration. More than 70 million vehicles cross the RFK each year, making it one of the busiest bridges in the tri-state area and a major New York City artery.

The primary scope of work included designing and installing temporary shoring, debris shield and work platform required to complete the repair work. Project elements included replacement of concrete cap beams, steel pier caps, floor beam tile plates and partial deck and joint replacement on the RFK and FDR approach ramps. Another critical item was the design and implementation of the Traffic Maintenance and Protection plan, to guarantee the safety of our staff and of bridge users.
